LEGAL REQUIREMENTS (MANDATORY MINIMUM)
FIRST MEETING
- To be at least 1 month and 1 day prior to the date of the marriage.
- Together, we complete the Notice of Intended Marriage (downloadable under the 'Resources' tab or I can provide).
- I confirm your identification with Passports or Birth Certificates and photo IDs.
- I provide you with a government supported document Happily Ever Before and After.
PRIOR TO THE CEREMONY
- I will have all the documentation ready including the Declaration of no legal impediment to marriage that I will ask you both to sign before the ceremony.
DURING THE CEREMONY
- I will say the legal words required under Australian Law (the Monitum).
- You say the legal words required under Australian Law (legal vows).
- Three Certificates are signed by both of you, both witnesses and me.
- Two witnesses aged at least 18 years must be present (you provide).
AFTER THE CEREMONY
- I submit the signed Certificate of Marriage to Births Deaths and Marriages with the Declaration of no legal impediment to marriage to register your marriage.
- I will cover the costs and apply for the official Marriage Certificate to be posted to your nominated address.
- I retain a signed copy of the Certificate of Marriage for 6 years.
- You retain 1 of the Certificates of Marriage (Form 15) forever.
- You live ‘Happily Ever After.’ .
